Thanks for the article, advice, and wisdom. Your article reminded me of a story I was listening to on NPR recently about crop mobbing.  It is similiar to the old fashioned barn raising.  I did a bit of research about it.  Here is a short article describing it, with links to a NY Times article about it, as well as info about how to start one in your area:
