Scarlet Croften

Scarlet Croften

Sweet-tart apple with flavors reminiscent of tangerine, and a hard, non-breaking texture. An old Irish apple from County Silgo, circa pre-1819, it has been in cultivation since Elizabethan times. However, this apple wasn’t well known until it was introduced in 1819 by John Robertson, a famous Kilkenny pomologist and nurseryman. Ripens in early October.
