Care & Storage:
If your basil gets too cold it’ll turn black, so don't store it in the refrigerator. The best place to keep it is in a vase or jar of water on your counter; like flowers, trim the stems down first. A bunch of basil will last for about a week.
Easy Prep Ideas:
Basil has a wonderful spritely flavor, and is a delicious addition to many soups and salads, and even sandwiches. Simply add a couple of leaves here and there!
Tips & Tricks:
Basil can also be easily dried, which is a great way to keep it if you won’t get through a whole bunch fresh. Hang it upside down until it dries out - some people even use the microwave. Dried basil is not nearly as flavorful as fresh, but it’ll keep for winter usage. You can also make a big batch of pesto and freeze it in ice cube trays. Once frozen, pop the cubes into a freezer bag. Then all winter, just grab a cube to toss in with your scrambled eggs or veggies for an amazing burst of flavor!
