Deep Red Apple Cider (return to top)

  • 5 cups apple cider
  • 3 cups dry red wine
  • ¼ c. brown sugar
  • ½ t. whole cloves
  • ¼ t. whole allspice
  • 1 stick cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
Remove cloves, allspice and cinnamon before serving.

Wassail Hot Cider (return to top)

  • 3 tea bags, your choice of flavors
  • 1 qt. Boiling water
  • 2 qts. Cider
  • 1qt. Cranberry juice
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 whole cloves
  • Thin orange slices, optional

Steep tea in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and pour tea into slow cooker
Combine all remaining ingredients in slow cooker
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours
Float orange slices in cider when ready to serve. Keep warm in cooker while serving.

Hot Cranberry Cider (return to top)
Serves 10-12

  • 2 qts. Apple cider
  • 1 pt. Cranberry juice
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 t. whole allspice
  • 1 orange, studded with 10 to 12 whole cloves

Put all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on high 1 hour, then on low for 4-8 hours
Serve warm

Hot Apple Punch (return to top)

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. Ground allspice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Combine all ingredients in large kettle. Cover and bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat. Remove and discard cloves and cinnamon sticks
Serves 10-12

Frosty Apple Shake (return to top)
Combine in blender:

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 apple, cored, sliced, but not peeled
  • 1 quart ice cold apple cider
  • ½ t. cinnamon

Whir until frothy; pour into tall glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Apple Tea (return to top)

  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 1 Tbl. Honey
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon, broken
  • 2 tea bags

Combine all ingredients except tea bags in large saucepan.
Cove and bring to a boil.
Turn off heat, and add tea bags
Cover and steep 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove and discard tea bags, cloves, and cinnamon
Makes 6 servings

Apple Smoothie (return to top)

  • 2 cups apple sauce
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 T. honey
  • ½ tsp. Ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. Ground cinnamon

Put all ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately
Makes 2 servings
